Internet Fauna by Allison-beriyani Internet Fauna by Allison-beriyani
or The Common Internet Troll and It's Prey.

YES! This is a series!! With lots of them!
Next: [link]

Greater/Common Internet Troll: The most common carnivore on the internet. feeds on the "LULZ" of other internet fauna. often hunts in packs, with a common mobbing call of "Umad? Umad?" surprizingly balanced, despite it's comically rotund appearance.

Lesser/Fail Troll: A relative of the Common troll, the fail troll also feeds on LULz, but is not as effective a hunter, and is often the prey of it's cousin. fortunately for the species, they breed quickly.

Noob: Small, helpless and undefined, these creatures are easy prey for the Common and Fail troll, but not as rich in LULZ as one might believe. They tend to mature into Standard Users fairly quickly.

Standard user: The most common denizen of the internet. reasonably intelligent and non-aggresive, they are difficult prey for all but the most experienced and clever trolls.

Perv: despite it's slug-like appearance, it's actually a fungus and primary decomposer if internet terrain. while easy hunting (they are slow and easy to attract), and full of LULZ, they have a disgusting bitter taste. Trolls only hunt them when in poor health.

Dramatis Personae: A loud and flashy creature that is always in the process of leaving it's current location as a way to drive up attention, it's favorite food. Unfortunately for it, it never looks where it's going, resulting in a circular pattern of movement that actually keeps it in it's place.

Creeper, Harmless: a creature that has become discombobulated somehow, and ambles across the forum plains awkwardly. it's erratic movements tend to put Standard users and other fauna ill at ease, but they are rarely dangerous. while easy to catch, it does not provide much LULZ, and it's strange movements when fighting off a troll can often injure it.

The LulzCow: Literally the dumbest thing alive. Prone to herd mentality and stampedes, the Lulzcow it the ideal prey of the Internet troll, full of Juicy, nourishing LULz and actually fun to hunt.

Be careful with that, IRL people can do a whole lot more than just leave mean comments.

This is true. The truest one is about lesser trolls , they breed very quickly.

I have an idea for a beast for your series. The forum; a monster with a multiple heads just arguing always but lack hearing or memory and keeps repeating the same information.

I always thought of forums more like a large flock of loud squaking birds, which occasionally freak out when a troll shows up to chase them.

That works too. As long as there are multiple animals all talking over each other they will become tasty troll snacks.

Super awesomeness! Your internet fauna series is the best thing I've found at DA. Thanks for having artistic talent and intelligence and a sense of humor.

The best thing on DA? Even better than the fetish porn?

I blame my sense of humor on being raised on PBS (British comedy, nature documentaries) as a kid.

Yes. And Yes. I won't comment further because it'll be politically incorrect and feed the trolls.

My sense of humor (and yes, I have one) can be blamed on reading Douglas Adams and also being raised on PBS as a kid.

BTW, are you a fan of The Oatmeal? theoatmeal.com/  Some of his beasties remind me of your fauna (in a good way).

You can feed the tame trolls.
Then they do tricks for you!

Story time! My dad played the BBC radio tapes in the car for me and my younger sister when we ere in the fiftha dn secnd grade, respectively. Not two weeks later my parents are called in to a parent-teacher conference because my sister had told her teacher "I think you ought to know I'm feeling Very depressed.", and teach missed the reference by a mile.

I love me my Oatmeal.

We have bizarrely symmetrical cultural references.

Its a real shame real life trolls are not as cool as your   Greater trolls. Noob and Standard user are so adorable. LulzCow burgers are so tasty.

IRL Trolls belong to yet another troll subspecies, Bufo magnificens, so named for having the balls to take thier trolling out of the safety of anonymity.

Most of the IRL Trolls I've met were pretty funny and mature enough to keep their trolling limited to those who deserved it.

Personally, I think that all internet fauna start out as noobs. What they mature into depends on their online experiences and offline behaviour, personality, and way of thinking, I suppose. I've also noticed that a great many noobs I've known often turn into Lulzcows. Some later become standard users, some don't. And they seem rather susceptible to butthurt, which I'd attribute to their inexperience with dealing with opposing opinions and the like.

You've got it exactly right.

I think that the high incidence of LULZcattle online is related to the high incidence of idiots offline.
