Jedi 'Family'

In the cannon Return of the Sith novel, their is a brief note where it is revealed that Dooku thinks of Obi-wan like a grandson.

And this got me thinking- presumably, Dooku was hanging around the Jedi temple, if not actually going on missions with his former padawan before he finally lost it, killed Sifo-Dias and left the order. He and Obi-wan would have known each other a long time before episode II.

Hence, this scene. Qui-gon has broken his leg doing some fool thing or another, so they're on leave. His former master has stopped by and is reading out of the histories of the order, telling Obi-wan how he's the brains of the operation and generally spoiling his grand-padawan.

In other notes, I love drawing bare feet and the reason Qui-gon has a spider on his cast is because when I was a kid, one of my class mates broke his leg and his older brother drew a very realistic-looking spider right over the break "for good luck". People kept smacking the cast because they thought the spider was real. (Mace Windu drew the spider because he's a secret sadist like that.)
