Book Update + Forums.

Journal Entry: Fri Aug 10, 2012, 1:15 PM

  • Watching: Olympics
I've re-written and organized the book so it makes more sense, and finished the "Gamer" family of Internet fauna.
THERE ARE CURRENTLY 242 SPECIES IN THIS BOOK.
THAT'S HALF AGAIN AS MANY AS THE FIRST POKEDEX.
and I've still got three chapters to go...

As part of my research, I've been lurking on DA's Forums to document new species.  So far, I have the Baww-er, the Primadonna, The Hijacker, Trivial Whiner, The Oblivious Emergency, the Overshare, and the Unintention-troll.  This feels incomplete, however, and would like to consult the wisdom of people who have lurked there longer than I.

Other things you may contribute to:

Diseases: I've added Special Snowflake Syndrome and Message/Submission Dyslexia to the list already.  Others?
Marketplace (People who buy/sell stuff online): The bad/awesome reviewer, the window shopper, Box-trolls, Crappy Negotiators, and the Over-price.  More?
Non-human-based-beings: Browsers, advertisements, viruses, AI's, captchas.  Anything else?

DUE TO RESTRUCTURING, BOOK WILL BE OUT LATER BUT MORE AWESOME.
I've decided to self-publish after getting blank stares by a dozen interviewers.
Also, see Poll about Etsy.

That is all for now.

hey I told you my idea already. You have the internet as a mother goddess with lots of random stuff falling off her. //you have her consort "the Server" made up of fire fox, internet explorer, safari, googel crohm, ect. ther child "the Browswer" and then all the deimi gods. ie the really big websites. Facebook, e-bay, wikipidea and the like

Aw yeah, I love your internet fauna series. :)

Perhaps you could include White Knights? Forum users who doggedly defend their chosen favourite (typically an artist or writer) from any and all criticism, both legitimate and perceived, constructive or otherwise. there's some good examples in the comments section of [link]

As for self publishing, if you don't mind softcover, try this company [link] which has a location in that big city near you. Never mind, they're black-and-white only on interior pages. Crud. Do you have a company in mind?

And, to add to your characters, the person before me mentioned bots? Well, that reminded me of those stupid human-bots, where I'm not sure if they're actually bots or actually people getting paid to do this, who show up in a comment section on an interesting article to say things like "Oh yeah, I heard about this from someone I met on [dating website] .com! It's awesome!"

Or the propaganda bot-people in certain less-free countries (I don't mean less-free-than-somewhere-else, just, got a failing grade on free-ness) who are paid a little bit to jump all over a story that comes out and make online comments about how "actually, bad-situation-x isn't so bad," or how "country is doing great things" and generally be the pretend voice of the people.

I can assemble book on Blurb, copyright it, and order up more copies whenever I need them for fairly cheap.

I believe what you've got there is a spammer.

Ah! AstroTurf! (fake grassroots people) and propagandists. Very good.
